We would not be able to talk about Tarifa without the sea, and neither would we be able to talk about Tarifa without fishing and its fishermen.
\nOur unity was born in order to guarantee the rational and sustainable practice of fishing, as well as to improve the conditions of sale of the production of our members.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

A little bit more about us<\/h2>\n
\n

We are the organisation of artisanal fishermen producers of the Strait (OPP-78) and we are located in Tarifa, Cadiz. We ensure the stabilisation of the markets through adjustments between supply and demand at the tariff exchange. In addition, we are a mechanism to guarantee the income of producers in the local fisheries sector.<\/p>\n

We currently have 54 vessels and 113 members. The majority of our fleet has very homogeneous characteristics with mostly minor gear licences, dedicated to the capture of wild bluefin tuna in the Gibraltar Strait and other fisheries such as thered voracious seabream (besugo de la pinta)<\/p>\n

Through production and marketing plans (PPYC), Fishery Producer Organisations plan their activity in order to improve the efficiency, sustainability and commercialisation of fishery products.<\/p>\n

Taking into account the indications of the CFP (Common Fisheries Policy) and of the CMO
\n(Common Organisation of the Markets), OPP-78 has defined a series of axes
\nto be developed through action measures, located in its strategic axis to increase economic profitability through activities oriented to seafood tourism and fishing.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
